JJ Bio Photo
John began an interest in photography after receiving his first 35 SLR film camera as an 18th birthday present. John attended college on Long Island, NY and majored in photojournalism and electronics. Although his career path would primarily end up taking him into the electronics field, he spent much of his spare time shooting spec photos for newspapers and magazines including Newsday, The Daily News, Sports Illustrated and Time magazine. In 1979 John was fortunate enough to be offered a position as a team photographer for the New York Islanders hockey team. After many years of photographing the NY Islanders and many other NHL teams John's primary employer offered him a transfer to Sacramento, California. Having spent many a summer vacationing in California and the West, spent mostly shooting landscape photos, John accepted the transfer and moved to California in late 1984. Although surrounded by California's natural beauty and multiple National Parks, John missed shooting professional hockey and when the San Jose Sharks began their first season here in 1991 John began photographing the Sharks and the other Western Conference teams for the National Hockey League thru the 1991-1992 and 1992-1993 seasons. In 1999 John made the jump to digital photography with the Nikon D1. He currently still shoots with Nikon digital SLR equipment.
